We change things around pretty often but recently we’ve tried:

Miserlou going into Runaway (Del Shannon)
You shook me all night long - AC/DC
Another Girl, another Planet - The Only Ones
    Teenage Kicks - Undertones

We had been in on Hammer to Fall, but last few gigs we`ve changed to the rocky version of Boys of Summer - breaks the audience in gently to the 80s and 90s rock that`s coming, and we all know it well, so in the immortal words of one Mr E Blackadder `we`re not at home to Mr Cockup`

Pretty much always start, appropriately enough, with 'Start' by the Jam, which segues seamlessly (ish) in to the Stones - 'Honky Tonk Women'

Quite often it's DLR's Just Like Paradise.. and occasionally it can feel tinged with irony.
Sounds like a cool gig too .

A bit cliche naff but it used to be 'Boys are back in Town ' and if it wasn't then it became the 2nd set opener

I think you'd enjoy our set..
    My trading feedback

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

Quite often, it’s whatever first dance the bride and groom have asked us to learn. This weekend it will be:

    Aerosmith / I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing.

….and I have to sing it. Gawdelpus.

Just started a new 80s band. Our first song is Sledgehammer.

Love that impact after the shakuhachi flute intro.

You've just reminded me, @Dominic - I once formed a band for a works Xmas do, and we opened with Laurel & Hardy's "Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia", which we segued into "Boys are back in Town".

  •  We have opened with Rain by The Cult for ever but recently we’ve changed to Dont believe a word for some inexplicable reason. It’ll never last lol!
Second half always starts with Lizzy’s Are you ready coz our vocalist likes to stir up the punters by shouting, Are you ready for part two? Are you ready? Are you ready?
    Bless him! Lol!

More often that not we start with Somebody Told Me by The Killers. We actually brought that into the set specifically to be the opener and have an impact right from the start. It always seems to do the job.

If we don't play that then we would probably open with something like Chelsea Dagger.
