I had a bit of spare time at the weekend so thought I’d spend some time doing some recording in Reaper. I’m making good headway with learning it via the Kenny Goia Videos on YouTube but I was tearing my hair out yesterday as to why everything sounded so ‘off’ and ‘plasticky.  I thought there must be something wrong with my ATH M50 headphones impedance, then I fiddled about with the recording levels on my Scarlett interface.  Nope.

Neural DSP plugins shouldn’t be that bad I’m sure.  Lots of adjustments still sounds horrible..

Fiddled about for ages with levels, EQ and compression.

Then just as was about to pack up and call it a day I knocked my interface only to find the damn headphones were only partially plugged in! Funnily enough it all sounded MUCH better after I pushed the bloody plug in properly.

Gah! Lesson learned I guess. Doh!

Been there! Glad you worked it out... sooner than I did, by the sound of it. :)
