PSA. Samsung 980 Pro 2TB firmware issue. Urgent fix.

I recently came across a serious issue with Samsung 980 Pro 2TB NVME drives where those made in Korea in 2021 with firmware 3B2QGXA7 installed will eventually completely fail and become locked as read only drives.
This isn't a small percentage chance that a few drives with this firmware will fail- they will all eventually fail.

You can read about it here:

https://www.pugetsystems.com/support/guides/critical-samsung-ssd-firmware-update/

So, if you have one of these drives you *must* update the firmware to
5B2QGXA7 which can be done by downloading Samsung Magician software on a PC.
I suggest installing the NVME on a motherboard- although some of the advice suggests using an external chassis I didn't find that worked.

You can do this without losing whatever is on the drive (although I suggest you back up).
In fact, I had 4 of mine on a RAID card in RAID 10- Windows 11 OS can't see any data when you install them one by one but you can update the firmware and pop them back in the card and they work.
