Getting back on the Medieval horse - need pickup advice

Looking for advice on sticking a pickup or transducer on this instrument preferably without drilling!
I’ve finally got it in tune 25 years after the last time it was heavily used - got some cello peg lubricant which is working quite well.
combined with the boss street cube v2 with its looper I can produce some mellow pieces for those sunny days.

I used a contact mic with my classical but you do risk finish damage to get a good solid contact with a putty or double sided tape.

I put K&K transducers in my mandolin but might be difficult with that sound hole design.

Another option is a clamped on gooseneck condenser mic.

I also have a Myers pick up, but the suction cup won't hold on anything I have, at least with the heave instrument cables I use.

Contact transducers (plural), possibly, fitted in some unusual places.

Frank Zappa owned two Acoustic (the amp company) AC500 Black Widow electric guitars - kinda ES-335 with P90s. At least one of these, he had modified by adding a Barcus-Berry "in the neck." 

It has never been entirely clear to me whether "in the neck" meant where the neck pickup is normally mounted or that the transducer was actually attached to the neck. (Adrian Belew has certainly used a headstock mounted transducer for weird effects. FZ may have borrowed the idea.) 

Zappa would run the magnetic and transducer signals separately before blending them into an unholy combination (as demonstrated on one track of the Shut Up 'N Play album).

A random Internet search hit upon multi-instrumentalist, Rowan Piggott. His website lists several suitable microphone makes and models. Any of which should do justice to your instrument. Failing that, the humble Behringer C-2 is a bargain.
