Lipstick Pickup as a soundhole pickup?

I have come across a few vids of acoutic players with lipstick pickups, mainly playing trashy blues type stuff I might add, so there is some compromise on sound, but sounds pretty good to me.
I had been thinking of a Danelectro Convertible again, but a lipstick in an acoustic could do the same thing.
The Yo La Tengo KEXP session piqued my interest. His acoustic, I think, has a lipstick on it?
