I did a YouTube Promo ...

What's Hot
Just to see what happened..I picked a vid that had around 130 views.

I set a £20 limit over 7 days I targeted USA / UK / Canada / India.

The result was  200+ subscribers and a reasonable 1200 views.

Overall Im happy with that but there are possible negatives which Im about to explore.

What is the purpose of growing your audience? Do you plan to monetize the channel in some way?

I guess the question is how many of those new subscribers will watch your other content or watch and like/comment on any new content you upload, or eventually buy your merch etc

I paid for some facebook promo's a few years ago, page likes and follows went up, but the interactions with new posts on the page stayed pretty much the same. so really a waste of money IMO

The possible negatives are the way the YT algorithm works, if most of there views are really shoer then it may determine that its fed it to 1000 people and they didnt really like it...so then it stops pushing it to new viewers, ..but the subs increase seems to be fairly genuine, and the overall number of views are got were only about 50% from this vid...which suggests they watched other vids.

I have 99 vids, so plenty for them to choose from, I guess if you only had a few then it could be more problematic.

The whole idea was a lockdown thing and I like doing reviews and helping folks, Im not really worried about getting monetised but of course Id like to grow the audience. Ive developed a complete social profile, so Linktree / website / IG / /Tik Tok/ Facebook, I review fro Groover and The Outside Left Mag.

Did you use a third party service? I didn't know paying for YouTube promo was even a thing to be honest!

  • I get a lot of messages on my wedding piano Instagram page trying to sell me promo for more followers and stuff, but I always wonder what would be the point in that scenario - I need followers who are getting married and looking for a pianist within about 70 miles, 1000 randomers from wherever else just to give me more numbers doesn't seem to make sense.

But I suppose like many things, there are good promo services and bad ones! I'd imagine the ones in touch with me are the bad ones :)
Please note my communication is not very good, so please be patient with me

This is within the YT settings...just go into your channel content and there's a tab at the top for Promotions, its very basic and no real targeting.

It seems like your YT is more o a show reel and  not really a channel that needs, or would benefit form subs.

You could however use something like Facebook Ads which would give you a much more targeted promotion within your radius.

Oh my youtube is useless, i only use it for hosting videos for couples to see how their music is coming along. I was on about Instagram promo rather than youtube.

I'm not allowed to run Facebook adverts, because about 5 years ago I tried to sell an Electro Harmonix Caliber .22 pedal sized power amp on facebook marketplace and because I didn't upload something to do with my ID within a few days they've banned me forever from promoting anything on there.

Ive not used paid IG promo...I dont see any of it being of use to you unless you can define the geographic area.

You can start a new FB page for your stuff no?

    TikTok is probably best...
