Take me out

Alright fretboard,

We play take me out like most cover bands and muggings starts it. I've never really got that first chord to have any impact, I'm hitting it as hard as possible but nothing like the song. Anyone else play this? I'm hitting the E chord on the a string as hard as possible.

What's your entire rig/setup and how are you currently playing it? 

I've had it work well for me playing a Tele bridge pickup nice and loud, 0-7-9-9-0-0 - all those open strings help it ring nicely. Ideally with a second guitarist playing another E shape lower down as well.

Ok that makes a lot of sense, I'm pretty sure I'm not playing the open strings and our lead is standing waiting for me.....

We do it with two guitars. 022100 and 079900 together has some heft. Still goes down well after all these years.
