XR18 hard controller

Does anyone know...

I want to get something like an X-Touch, a 'hard controller' for my XR18. Does it work without a computer/tablet? Or do I have to have a tablet connected too?

X-Touch should work without a computer but, despite  this being one of the reasons for me buying an X-Touch, I haven't tried it yet.

This video from Behringer shows the X-Touch and XR18 working together.  In this system they've linked things via a local network so that you can see everything working on a laptop, an iPad and an Android screen.  If you just want to connect the X-Touch to the XR18 without a computer / network you would just hook the two together via an Ethernet cable.

What the video demonstrates is what control you would have with the X-Touch.  I haven't used the X-Touch this way (I use the X-Touch and an Expander to control Cubse in my home studio) but, if I did, I think that I'd want to also have a laptop or iPad hooked up so that I could see what was going on.
