Burman Pro 502 - 2x12 combo

Seems to be a 1977 model, from the cap codes. Some dings and scuffs that you'd expect from 46 years of life, and commensurate with the weight. It's HEAVY!

50W, 2 channel model with reverb. Cascaded gain on Channel 2 - sort of a "British Boogie". Old hardware was suffering - Philips screws being 'rounded out' - so all replaced with new. Old parts kept in a baggy.

One bad point: the indicator light has failed and I've been unable to source a replacement. May need a tech to creatively disassemble the original and insert an LED/etc. So it's priced accordingly.

Price: £450 collection only from Cambridge

I had a 501 for many years, they're such good amps, so very versatile with their three channel gain allowing all sorts of gain cascading allowing super clean, thin, thick, creamy saturation, to wild overdrive.  Based loosely, as I understand it, on the then new Mesa Boogie amps.  Don't they have K88 power tubes, like 6L6s but better?

  • Had one for ages - very cool amps. Traded it around 3 years ago during one of my periodic gear culls.

I had a Pro 4000 HD bass amp; it was heavy as a small planet and slightly underpowered.

^ Indeed - it's those yuuuuuge transformers. I used to avoid AC30s because of the weight, but I must have had a bit of a blind spot when buying this one.
