Capo recommendations for 12 string?

What's Hot
Shubb, Kyser, G7th? Would rather spend under £20 but doesn’t look likely. Your experiences?

    I have a G7th one.

Absolutely perfect, no buzz and perfect ringing every time.

Has yours got the serrated top rubber part? I’ve seen some with normal flat pad and some - newer? - with serrated version.

Kyser. Perfect, like their 6-string ones.

It might depend on the guitar. The neck on my 12-string is big enough that even adjusted as wide as it goes the Shubb is too tight from about the 5th fret up. Not ideal for ham-fisted approximations of Hotel California or Here Comes the Sun.

I've played a 12-string for 45 years and always tune it a tone down. Every capo I've ever tried puts it out of tune - except the G7th with serrated edge. Perfect.

G7th one with the serated edge is brilliant

Another +1 for Kyser - they make one specifically for 12s. Works a treat.

Well, I’ve informed family that I’d like a 12 string capo for Christmas so it’s in the lap of the gods.

  • I use a cheap Planet Waves capo occasionally. It takes a bit of wiggling to get all the strings ringing out, but it works. My Shubbs don't behave so well.
