New Bright Green Baritone Guitar Day

I’ve been after a baritone electric for a while, primarily for recording.

I liked the look of the Reverend Descent, but the price for a guitar I would use fairly infrequently put me off.

I was tipped off to Eastwood and their Sidejack Baritone. Their prices are quite high (£635 for the base Sidejack) for an Indonesian made guitar, but they seem to routinely have codes for 15-20% off.

I’m not sure how, but I ended up on myrareguitars.com. It’s the clearance site for Eastwood (plus a few other bits). They have a warehouse in Liverpool apparently.

In the B-Stock section on there they had an Emerald Green Sidejack Baritone. It’s part of their 20th anniversary run. But it had finish flaws. I decided as long as it was fine to play I wasn’t bothered about finish flaws for the price. I paid £347, and it even came with a (cheapo) gig bag. The unblemished one is £732.

The colour might not be everyone’s cup of tea - it is sparkly green all over. But it sounds great (very big and deep), and plays well. The board is supposed to be rosewood, but I don’t know what species it is. It’s very smooth with some almost orange streaking. Still, it feels nice to play. It sits well alongside my Burns 12 string as an unusual and surprisingly good quality, fun and cheap (relatively) guitar.

Here are some photos as a reward for reading this far:

That's rather funky. Excellent shade of green, too.

Wow. That’s even better looking in your pics than it was on the website.

Looking forward to the first playing impressions

Needs a Bigsby. (Or, better still, an M3.)

What a beauty!  I was looking at that myself around Black Friday, despite already having a baritone!  Cracking price.

I do like an Eastwood, they make a funky, fun, and different from the norm guitar.  They’ve usually got great stock pickups too!  They really come to life after a good setup through.

Basically the same as before. It sounds good, it was cheap and is pretty fun. I’m happy with what I paid but I don’t think it’s worth the RRP - I still have no idea what the fret board wood is - I think they were using a pretty wide definition of rosewood. More Squier level than Fender or even South Korean made (Reverend etc).

I only really use it for recording so it serves its purpose.
