Is Eden Project good for gigs?

Never been down that neck of the woods (I'm in NE Scotland) but see that Crowded House are playing Eden Project next year. We both love a bit of CH so I was wondering if it would be a cool place to see them or should I look at one of their other gigs instead?
I love the idea of it but does it make for a great gig?

  • Certainly an interesting place to visit although I’ve never been to a gig there.
Cardiff is quite an interesting city centre (well, the city plus Cardiff Bay which is a short bus/taxi ride or boring walk away) and the castle (where CH are also playing) is very central. Presumably it would be easier to find somewhere to stay than for the Eden Project if that didn’t look viable.
Tipton is a small fishing village in the borough of Sandwell.

I presume they won’t be playing in the 35°C dome?
I play guitar because I enjoy it rather than because I’m any good at it

  • I've not been myself but a family member went to see Incubus at the Eden Project in the summer and said it was great. He's a gigging musician too so knows his stuff.

  • Never been but I've always wanted to, entirely on the back of this:

  • Yep, it's a fabulous place for a gig. It's held just outside the biomes.
    This one goes to eleven

  • I've been a couple of  times (Elbow, Bjork). It's good if it isn’t raining.  The ground rises away from the stage, so sight lines are decent. I'm going to see Crowded House there myself next year.

Cheers guys, good to know. I like the idea of a wee holiday with a gig thrown in.

  • I went to see Peter Gabriel at the Eden Project years ago.
It was a brilliant concert and lovely venue.
Can’t say the same about the chopper flight there and back though.

  • Years since I went to the Eden project and even then it was just a crowded green house. IGMC

Yeah it’s great. It’s basically on a grassy hillside, so almost like a mini amphitheater. Great views all round, and feels quite intimate.

Transport in and out is a bit of a drag. They lay on busses from the car park. Totally walkable from the car parks if the weathers ok (if you’ve taken it with you).

Plus you get free access to the dome on the day if you’ve got Eden session tickets.

Tie it in with a night in Cardiff. Amazing city!

It never occurred to me that it could be a gig venue.
However, I did see Crowded House at Wembley a few years back and they did a CD of the gig: you ordered it going in and collected after; it's very good.
