Help with monitoring loopy pro with helix

I’ve bought, and started messing around with loopy pro on an iPad. 

I am recording in via a line 6 helix going and using an Apple usb B to C adapter. 

Recording is fine, except when I’m playing and recording/looping at the same time, whereby I get phasing/notched filter sound on the audio. 

When playing back, it’s not there.

I remember the same type of thing happening recording via a pc many years ago, and my solution was to mute the monitor while recording.

Any ideas?
