I did meet him once when my guitar got fixed at his workshop. About 3' deep in sawdust with guitar cases stacked to the ceiling. As much of a music biz legend as many rock stars, he must have helped hundreds of famous and not so famous musicians over the years. What sad news.

That is sad news.  I guess he was one of the first UK custom builders I was ever aware of, along with John Birch.  Probably due to the Tony Iommi connection.  RIP.

RIP John. I last visited the workshop during at the end of the pandemic. I've dealt with his grandson Toby lately but met the man himself a few years ago. His creations have been put to use by some incredible musicians over the years so his work has been seen and heard by millions.

Not seen or spoken to John for many years now - But in the 80's I did quite a bit of business with John - Mainly the Mark King bass's and Roadie models that were popular in the day - Plus a few Hooligan Strat based models

RIP JayDee - Your legacy will stay with us for many many years

Sad to hear, I had one of his Explorers for a few years, but got rid because it was so big in the case and I had a smaller car.  It's one of those guitars that I wish I had kept.
