RIP

I loved her shows.  Eternally young - I was gobsmacked to learn she was 83!

Long successful career, one of those DJs/presenters who you felt actually liked the music, pioneer of women in broadcasting (first female Radio 1 DJ,etc) and she once read my letter out on her show. Sad news. RIP Annie.

I had a few beers with Annie at the Glasgow Barrowlands at a free Blur and Radiohead gig in 93. Lovely, intelligent and endearing lady.

    Amazing legacy too

    RIP Annie

As a kid her "Hi" after the Top 40 on a Sunday night signaled my bath time and to stay up a bit later I'd do anything to hear as much of her show as possible. Later on I'd get to hear more of it and she was my gateway away from only listening to chart music - a gentle move towards Tommy V and Peel if you will.

A proper DJ and music lover & not a so called celebrity or TV person who's been given a radio show. Her Sunday night show was so good in the 80s. Happy memories. RIP.

My aunt used to work for Annie's uncle (Bill?), who lived a couple of doors down from her in Chiswick.  Consequently she used to see Annie every now and despite the generational difference she'd tune in to see her on the box when she could.  Fond memories.

RIP - she was a firm fixture in my musical upbringing.

Very sad news. She really was a one off, a huge enthusiastic promoter of all kinds of music & always did things her own way, quietly battling the music industry patriarchy, without ever being nasty.
    RIP.

Beeb website refers to her as "trailblazing" and if anything that's an understatement.

Oh man, that's heartbreaking news. I remember her radio show in the 70s, before her OGWT years and it was essential listening. An icon of British broadcasting no less.
    RIP Annie.

Mid September I think. I was back at the end of the month for the Smashing Pumpkins supported by Verve
