Hi
im just getting into Neural Amp Modeller - I’m quite impressed at how useable the sounds are straight ‘off the bat’ (to use the annoying YouTube cliche). I’m struggling with IRs however - I’m finding nearly all the ones on Tonehunt sound like they’re in a boxy room, so far with the exception of PipPriss Marshall white cross, which still has a tiny bit of room resonance.
Maybe I record fairly quietly, but I tend to close mic and get a very dry sound, which is what I find useful for mixing. I’m wondering if people are recording their IRs at greater volume?
I had a look on the Celestion website and it seems you have to pay at least 30 quid for an IR you don’t get to hear before you buy. I’m assuming these are recorded in a chamber so no room resonance.
Does anyone here have a recommendation for a general purpose IR (maybe a Celestion of some kind) that has no room resonance and is free?
Sorry, I am totally new to cab IRs so have probably missed a lot of general wisdom on this.

So it's not just 1 IR - it's a whole bunch of IRs based on the speaker you pick.

@jasonbone75 I’m going for 1x12, 1x10, 4x10…so Fender combo format
You cannot load a DSR onto any hardware - they are for use in their plugin only.
For IRs you can use with hardware you can actually get 3 sets for £19.99
CelestionPlus – Custom IR Collection – 3 Cabinet Pack
Just go down the page and tick the 3 you want. There's a big choice of cab size, open or closed back etc etc.
For each you'll get loads of different files.

NB - it's usually against T&C of the IR creators to share any IR that has been paid for.

It's a bit limited IIRC, but definitely good enough to give you an idea.
I really like the Ruby when playing an amp through my load box and in ears or phones, but tbh tend to just use the built in cabs when using my Helix.
All IRs are subjective anyway and what sounds great through IEMs can sound sh1te through full range or proper monitors
The G12-65 that @fretmeister mention is one of my favs as well.
