Looking to put a bass xtender on my '62 reissue MIJ jazz bass, E serial number from the early 80s, any idea which model hipshot fits?

Website says BT10 fits Japanese made fender but doesn't state whether that means current model or 80s reissues, anyone with direct experience or just knows for certain please help me out!  =)

BT1 / BT2 / BT7 / BT10 etc

If you take one of your tuners off and measure the holes and screw placement, Hipshot have proper diagrams on their site to compare with.

The Hipshot BT10 has the same narrow backplate as the 'heads found on many old MIJ Fender and Squier bass guitars. (I have the same design on a Squier Silver Series P Bass.)

The BT7 resembles the 'heads commonly found on MIM Fender basses.

The BT1 and -2 resemble vintage Klusons with the large backplate. (One of these two models ought to be reverse geared!)

The mounting holes for each of these products are spaced differently to each other.

The best way to confirm a match would be to upload a photograph of your bass' original hardware.
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

  • Yeah I'll have to wait to get the bass from storage to get accurate measurements - just thought I'd ask, thanks for the help chaps
