Discussion:
Thanks to @fastonebaz for this backing track. Who also provided the following brief (just to inspire everyone:))

"I was envisaging a jolly old stroll through a park by a river in Paris, with smiling faces everywhere and crepe vendors and icecream stalls at each turn".

You can download the backing track from Soundcloud below:

Record your solo over the top of it and then submit it (ideally in mp3 format) to solos@theFB.co.uk
Also, feel free to comment on how you approached the solo, which will add a bit more interest and maybe we can learn something from each other.

There should be headroom to record your solo. Try to set a level without excessive master limiting, because we want to avoid loudness wars.

Voting will start soon after the submission deadline, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.
First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point
The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends.

No prizes. It's just for fun.

As people submit their entries, I'll post them below to hopefully promote some discussion on approaches used for the solo:

Sent one in. Really enjoyed this one, excellent backing track @fastonebaz

Strat neck pup (Tonerider Surfari Alnico III) slightly goosed with a GE-7 into the Valvepower 18 watt cage amp with the gain right down. Fender twin model in Ox with a tad of compression and reverb.

Did this in one take after about 30 goes at it.

    This one goes to eleven

    Sent one in.

Charvel san dimas pro mod,  coil tap  bridge pup

I composed this one fully.  I've been watching quite a bit of Joel Hoekstra recently so tried my first little bit of multi fingered tapping,  sounded better in my head

One from @susbemol in the playlist.
It's the usual 335 → Kemper (Princeton profile, in this case) with a bit of delay from Echo Boy to fit in with the track a little better.

Ive remembered this afternoon how good the track was this month so quickly put something onto GarageBand and sent it in. Lord knows what I'm up to - I was thinking jazzy frenchness through an 80s pop lens but its a bit of a 'diner des chiens' if I'm honest :-)

EDIT - just heard @susbemol 's entry - thats what I meant to send in, can we swap ? (its bloody gorgeous)
