Pick 5 mini pedals….

What's Hot
fretmeisterfretmeister Frets: 24408
I bought one of the pedal boards that Bax were knocking out for £8.00.

It has space for 5 mini pedals. The cut outs are shaped so no mini wah, alas.

So, what do I pick for guitar use?

I only have a mini Chorus at the moment and I never use it.

So…

Drive
Dist
Phaser
delay
reverb…

or something off the wall / experimental?

Please recommend 5 amazing mini pedals, ideally ones that don’t cost the earth.

    MXR Phase 95.

Unfortunately I don't think a Miku mini exists.

Korg Pitchblack mini Tuner, Xotic Sp Compressor, Xotic SL Drive, Donner Jet Convolution (same as a Mooer Elec Lady) Flanger TC Electronic flashback mini.

If we don't include tuner then maybe add an MXR 108 Fuzz mini to that. I was going to suggest Mooer black secret too but since it was already mentioned in an earlier post I went with the SL drive instead.

Ibanez analogue delay, tone city wild fro and the Mooer shimverb are good, the Ibanez mini fuzz is good , it’s not that fuzzy, more vintage furry distortion

I have the Crazytube Circuits Sidekick, Which is a pretty big pedal but covers my needs for Reverb/Delay/Chorus/Flanger. 3 mini pedals with patches will take about the same space.

They also have the JR version which is more advanced and a lot smaller.

    Can't beat the versatility.

The Ibanez Mini pedals are great, barring the inexplicable decision not to put paint on the markers on the smaller knobs (easily fixed).

I have the 850 Fuzz Mini, Chorus Mini and Tube Screamer Mini on my board. The fuzz is the pick of them, really fantastic pedal that gets the tones I want from a fuzz without the baggage I don’t.

The chorus is also heartily recommended, but sounds like you have that covered. The TS is a TS, and does TS things well, which may or may not be what you want. For me, it’s a seasoning rather than a main ingredient.

    Also on my mostly-mini board:
    - MXR Phase 95 - the easy answer to most Phaser questions.
    - Mooer E-Lady. Stupidly cheap great sounding Electric Mistress clone.
    - Wampler Ego Mini - fairly rarely used, TBH. I’ve heard the Mooer Yellow Comp (Diamond clone) is a good cheaper option.
    - MXR Carbon Copy Mini. Same as the big one but better (bright switch). Might be pricey, though. The tiny Xvive DMM clone would be fun.

I also have an MXR Timmy hidden in a drawer in case of emergencies. Great, versatile drive that goes with any amp, but I prefer the “feel” of a Blues Driver style pedal.

Mosky Golden horse for a bit of drive and/or
Rowin Dumbler also for a bit of drive
     TC Electronic - Spark boost
     Mosky P90 ProPhase
     TC Electronic Vortex flanger
     Mooer Trelicopter is quite popular.
Xvive reverb/delay maybe although the Flashback mini is always a good shout.

All manner of good things abound these days.
Old, overweight and badly maintained. Unlike my amps which are just old and overweight.

I took advantage of that deal too... Almost an auto reaction to a great deal but I did have a few pedals looking for a home. They're seconds from my bass board except the pigtronix mini comp which  is still in use. An eclectic  mix but they make a decent sound with a telecaster. The XP will hopefully be replaced by a Prince of Tone soon and I'm on the lookout for a mini sized compressor; a mini optical would be nice, if there is such a thing.

Wampler Tumnus is a great pedal for cut through the mix solos

I had not seen the 850 Mini Fuzz - that looks fun.
I like Phaser a lot so that's a possibility too.

I really hate micro pedals but if you forced me to do it I'd probably have these three for sure:

    ODR-1 mini
    MXR Phase 95
    Ibanez mini analog delay

  • I'm in love with my BJFE Blue Bee so would seek out one of these:

Honey Bees and Silver Bees also available.

They also do the BJF designed Prussian Blue Reverb, although I found the Mr Black Mini Reverb was tidy.

The Suhr Riot Mini looks like great fun - it was next to try on my list after the 850 Fuzz Mini for the distortion/fuzz slot on my board, but I'm happy with the Ibanez.

The Donner Morpher seems to be a popular clone.
