It's been reported that excellent British bassist Derrick McIntyre has tragically passed away in a car accident. Very sad news.

I was incredibly lucky to be in a function band years ago where we managed to get him to dep on bass for a couple of gigs at short notice. He just turned up, no rehearsal, slotted into the band perfectly and took things to another level (what a groove). It was awesome to play with such a great musician. He was also so friendly and supportive. A super nice guy.

This is sad news and he was well known amongst the R n' B and funk brigade and well thought of.
He played some great bass on Jamiroquai's 'Dynamite' album and particularly on track.
