I know a tuner is a tuner but which is your fave tuner on your board?

TC. I’ve got a two boards with Polytune minis on. And a clip on one. I like the poly trick - strum all six strings and it shows you a rough view of in tune, sharp or flat. Good for a quick check between songs mid gig.

    Korg for me.

There are a few models to choose from, mostly with a decent sized and bright display that works well pretty much anywhere and last forever.

  • Boss TU-3 - I never found the poly modes on the TC to be particularly useful, and prefer the footswitch/enclosure of the Boss.

TC Polytune on my gigging board. I've got a Boss TU-3 as a backup, but I find the Polytune easier to use.

My favourite is the Peterson STROBOSTOMP HD.
The Boss is great built like a tank.
Not the Waza version the light in the dark is a pain to see properly.
The Behringer clone of the Boss is excellent value for money and works just aswell.

Polytune mini. Does everything, takes up little space. Tried a korg mini but not in the same league so returned it.

I have an A440 tuning fork.

Doesn't even need batteries, is easy to amplify and works on acoustics.

The joy of learning guitar in the early '80s.

Until you're in a room with lots of other musicians warming/tuning up and you can't hear it.

Better learn to tell the pitch from the vibration then!

  • I own a TU-3 these days. Absolutely fine,  but it's not being used any more coz the tuner on the H90 is also fine and that makes it one less thing to carry/cable, etc. I have a headstock tuner as a spare, just in case...

I used a Korg Pitchblack for 15+ years and that was equally fine.

I use a Korg Pitchblack and have done for years. Before that I had their DT10 but the switch died after a few years of heavy gigging.

StroboStomp every time. Perfect for BFTS and sweetened tuning.

  • I used the TU-3 for a long time. As with all Boss pedals, it's a well built thing and perfectly functional. Then I got a Peterson StroboStomp HD. The accuracy, large screen, sweetened tunings etc make it the best tuner I've used to date. I'm a convert to Peterson and use the StroboClip on my acoustics now too.

    I have the D’Addario one

I like the idea of the Peterson one but I’m too tight to spend that on a tuner
    Red ones are better.

    TC.

On bass I find the TU-3 quite jittery. It's annoying.
