Shaped Like You

I recorded this a couple of years ago, singing and playing ac guitar simultaneously. It’s one take, so a bit rough around the edges. (Also since both vocal and ac guitar are on the same track, I can’t increase the guitar volume).

So yesterday I added bass guitar.  It sounds a little bit more balanced now and so I decided not to add any further instruments.

I listened. 

In my opinion, the bass guitar part is pitched too close to the vocal register. I would have arranged it an octave lower. I would have chosen a deep, woody sound, like an arco contrabass.

If the delivery were less rubato, it could stand to have drums. Either very light brush style or epic overblown Eighties gated snare.

As things stand, I would push the recording towards an Astral Weeks vibe.
