can I use bluetooth and the USB/3.5" jack interchangeably? Id like to plug a Mac into it via bluetooth and my work laptop via usb (ideally) so I can play music from each

The USB connection is for USB sticks, not data from a computer.

You can switch between 3.5mm/Bluetooth/Optical inputs via the uppermost of the switches on the RHS.

No worries. I don't know of one that can switch between being the audio interface of one computer via USB and an alternative BT/3.5mm input.
