    I've read the book of this, and thought it was an extremely accurate depiction of the US Marines I've had the priviledge of serving with. Looks like the casting for the TV show is excellent, too.

    It's based on a book, which was written by an embedded journalist (it was originally a series of articles in Rolling Stone), and the series is based on the actual events he witnessed. I don't think there was ever an intention to make more than 7 episodes.
