Both recordings sound like me, in my late teens or early twenties, trying out a newly-acquired distortion pedal into my TASCAM 234. (My gear testing home recordings were the audio equivalent of an artist's sketch book. I would not wish to expose them to public ridicule.) If there is a bass part or any chordal support on either recording, my smartphone is unable to render it.

I write this as a fan of both Ornette Coleman's Free Jazz and the collected guitar improvisations of Frank Zappa.
