FS/FT 1964 Epiphone Riviera in Ex Condition SOLD

Up for sale or trade is my rather stunning 1964 Epiphone Riviera. A third year example of a very rare beast, which is starting to attract the serious vintage crowd at last. Made in Gibson's Kalamazoo factory, the Riviera was introduced in '62 and was a companion to the ES-335, with like-for-like construction (same moulds, parts and timbers) save for the pickups and tailpiece. It's said that it was Gibsons attempt to reach alternative distribution networks and the Riviera was priced higher than the 335 (likely due to the low production numbers). Laminated maple/poplar/maple construction with mahogany neck and Brazilian rosewood fretboard, mini patent stickered PAF's humbuckers etc.

These guitars are still significantly less than a same year 335 so represent a bit of a vintage bargain imo. This one is in exceptional condition and could be mistaken for something having been made in the past decade! It has an almost un-marked top, back and sides. There is the faintest amount of scratching on the back but it's not severe enough to notice unless turned directly into the light and would almost certainly polish out (not that I would dream of doing such a thing!). The top is also very clean with some polishing swirls but no dents or dings. There is one mark on the side (pictured) but the wood is undamaged and it's just the lacquer/paint that's affected. No checking anywhere to be seen!

The neck/headstock have a couple of small marks, but nothing that you can feel when playing. No fingernail divots on the Brazilian rosewood either. Everything is original and untouched (mini PAF's, electronics, ABR1 with foundry mark, original frets and tuners etc) and it's clearly not seen a lot of action and spent much of it's life in a case. It's an early '64 example which importantly means it has the 1 11/16 nut width which was slimmed down later that year. The neck profile is very similar to an early 60's 335, so fairly slim but with a very rounded C shape.

Plays and sounds like a dream.

Looking for a trade or part trade ideally. Willing to listen to ideas so don't be shy. Trade value of £6500 and a sale price of £6000 NOW SOLD
