I've been informed the Piggy was aimed at a Mesa Boogie Mark with wooden cabinet etc.

  • I had a Piggy PS-100 for a while. I think they look cool. It had a basic clean tone but I used to use a Tech 21 Para Driver with it that really transformed it. I imagine it would take amp emulation pedals well. I enjoyed it as a home/practice amp.

The one I had was blonde tolex. The wood one you have looks very nice. GLWTS

I don't own the wood one - That's just what they look like when you take the tolex off... With a bit of beeswax.

I'd say the Piggy has more character than the Yamaha, but very well suited to single coils; the Yamaha is fuller sounding and handles the 'buckers, but both sound sweeter than something like a Roland or Peavey, which is why I've kept hold of them. I had a Silver Stripe Studio Pro that was excellent for high gain, but a little icy on cleans.

Both take pedals well and you need one for the Yamaha (I mainly use a JX40 with a Yamaha GW10 pedal for drive).
