A nice old mandolin, made by Harmony in Chicago for the Sears catalogue. Though the model name is not marked, it's identical to the Harmony Monterey H410. They made these from the late 30s to the early 70s when the Harmony factory closed - this one is probably at the later end of that. These are made from solid wood, usually birch, pressed into an arched top and back and with a painted faux-flame finish. It sounds good, quite typically like an archtop f-hole mandolin - it doesn't quite have the projection of the better carved instruments, but the general character is in the ballpark, and it's much more charming and vibey than anything new for this price. The action is nice and low, barely over 1mm at the 12th fret on the high E side, and plays very comfortably. The adjuster wheels on the bridge have been removed to get it this low, but are stashed in the case pocket if you want to put them back.
It has a fairly recent Viking semi-rigid gig bag, the strings have just been changed and there's a small selection of decent picks in the pocket. I'm in Glasgow and you're welcome to check it out here, though I also have a suitable box to hand and can post at cost.
