Why would a 1978 have a Custom Shop sticker?

    It wouldn’t.

The neck, the tuners, the neckplate and probably the body are genuine, but nothing else is.

Replaced pickup, pickguard, bridge, body drilled through, refinished, and even the string tree has been replaced.

    Optimistic price.

Meanwhile, further down the eBay listing page, amongst the other items that their algorithm calculates might be of interest, is a Squier Hello Kitty STRAT for £550. It's a very, very mad world.
