NGD - PRS S2 10th Anniversary

What's Hot

Slightly ironic I'm doing this post after having a dental check up today, although I've had it 2 weeks just not had time to post!

I've been after trying a Core 594 for a while since the 58/15LT pickups came out because they sounded great on videos by Tim Pierce for one. I always preferred the double cut too as for me the single cut should say Gibson on it.

As soon as I noticed the new S2 spec for this year I started looking at them because they finally were using US pickups, and I found the anniversary models from last year which already had them. They also have MOP inlays and a Cuban mahogany neck (whatever difference that makes). Super dark rosewood board as well, which looks almost ebony till you see the grain. I got this for an unbelievable price as well which makes it all the sweeter.

Honestly blown away, I've compared it to my Tokai 335 with Mojo PAFs and my Gibson and it hangs with them perfectly. Great sounding pickups and my ideal control setup makes it a snap to dial in tones. Lovely tactile nitro feel and just oozing quality, I do love the chamfers on the S2 line as well, very comfy.

It also looks the nuts too, understated with hints of flame, mineral streaks and grain.

Anyway, its immense and I'm well pleased:

My head said brake, but my heart cried never.

Lovely.  I was almost tempted to get one of these when they came out, just for the US pickups and electronics (I think Peach had some which had ebony boards, as a bonus).  But I've already got one with the standard import pickups, buying another didn't seem justified.

Thanks mate, yeah the Peach ones were standard with the S Pickups rather than the US ones. I spent a long time going over them all :)

    Stunning looking guitar!

I always thought that these 58/15LT pickups sounded especially sweet when Bryan Ewald was demoing them.

    HNGD!

Thank you, yeah I've been meaning to try them for such a long time, and contrast them against my other vintage PAF style pickups. They fare very well and I'm glad I got them, can't believe how much of a bargain this guitar is actually.

Wow! That is very pretty, I see what you mean about the rosewood, it looks darker and more consistent that a lot of actual ebony boards. Very cool.

Thanks mate, it's unbelievably dark isn't it, aside from my Strat think it's the darkest RW I've seen in person.
