It's looking like I'll be in London next week and both of these should be great - Adams at RAH and Crowes at Hammersmith Apollo.

Any going to either and maybe fancy a meetup if I make it?

Would love to mate, but I live too far away and I'm skint. Maybe I shouldn't have retired while 2 kids are at university. Also sadface.

Well that was bloody good. First half was all of Reckless plus a couple of extras from that era. Absolutely bloomin perfect and I didn’t realise that was the plan when I bought my ticket (and luckily I bought for tonight and not yesterday or tomorrow).
Second half a little flatter personally simply because Reckless is his best work by miles imo, but still a great night and honestly if I’d had the first half alone I’d have called it a perfect gig and still a bargain.

Key thoughts from a muso perspective:
    1. Keith Scott is and has always been an absolute legend. Phenomenal player and doesn’t take himself too seriously either.
    2. Strats are really bloody great aren’t they? Scott played his old 60s one all night bar i think 3 songs (2 on a PAF gold top LP, 1 on a P90 all-gold LP iirc).
    3. Folks who tell you “Gibsons just don’t stay in tune” are talking bumfluff. Bryan played a single vintage ES295 all night and didn’t touch the tuning once. When he occasionally switched to acoustic or Strat it sat on a stand on stage and not touched by a tech either.
    4. The lone acoustic was an old battered D18 which sounded fabulous.  I need to stop worrying so much and find out what pickup & signal chain he’s got and get one for my Bourgeois. I hope it’s something not too invasive!!
    5. The guitar solo in Everything I Do… is probably the single best thing ever played on a Strat. Yes I’m including Gilmour, SRV, Hendrix et al in that consideration. The melody and sheer subtly of touch in that is just incredible and something everyone should aim for.

I think that’s it. I feel a bit ill now - jet lag combined with eating something dodgy I think. Anyway - bed now, Black Crowes tomorrow!!

Black Crowes tonight, on the aptly named Happiness Bastards tour.

    Very different vibe… a little more rock & roll, a little less polished-showbiz. A LOT more guitars….

    Black DC Jr

    Yellow LP special

    Sunburst 335

    White  50s strat

    60 tort white strat

Zemaitis tele shape, black with metal top.

    White SG with maestro

    Black guard HB in neck.

    Black 335

    Goldtop LP

    Heart acoustic zemaitis

    White falcon

    Firebird, blue

    Tele custom, black

Rickenbacker rose morris 360 ( f-hole not normal Ric cutout)

And that’s just Rich… the other guy had at least a 335, LP, Tele and 2 SGs.

I think he only repeated guitars 3 times - the white SG, black DCJR and Goldtop got 2 songs each iirc.

And yes that’s Steve Tyler for a quick bash through Mama Kin to end.. Rich even cracked a smile for a moment during that one!!!

Yeah they were both great in quite different ways and both acts I’d had on the to do list for 15+ years but never had the stars align before.

Given a good year in the UAE is maybe 2 decent gigs in total I’m very happy! Bloody knackered now though…

Next thing I have a ticket for is War in Drugs back at the RAH in July. I cannot wait!!

I know right! Though he only had maybe 2 switched on, the lazy bugger!

Which reminds me, there was something on top of the amp he was using. It looked like a couple of tape delays but with some cabling coming out the top. I didn’t hear any obvious delay all night so not sure what was hose could’ve been. Will see if I have any better pics for if he’s done a recent enough rig rundown

Ok that looks like the one. I guess the stuff out the top is just chunky input/outout cables

    My dudes…

Keith Scott, one of the most tasteful and under-rated guitarists since the 80s. Always plays what's right and always for the song

1 wis really isn't enough here. The guy is incredible. He can shred your face off but doesn't because there's almost always better option

That pile of amps looks a bit silly, but If you can afford I suppose why not. I'm guessing the promoter emptied the stock of the local backline hire companies and a few guitar shops too, to provide that ridiculous backdrop.

That would explain the Marshall MG head in the pile? Or is Rich Robinson "in the know" along with Dave Simpson?

Need to see if I can find pics from the US leg and Manchester show earlier in the week, and whether the pile of amps changes every night or if they bring it with them!

Looks like exactly the same pile of amps in Nashville, at least on Rich's side.
