Well on topic with the thread I just got this min e tune/G Force (actually Tronical Tune in reality) kit for a song on here and fitted them as follows on my LP Studio.

The whole job of fitting it took about half an hour including removing the old tuners and cleaning all the surfaces to make for the best fit and finish.

Once restrung (a snap with the string up mode) and the strings were stretched it went into tune very quickly and changes in tunings was pretty decent and at least as quick as my Dark Fire was but with less complexity and gubbins, i.e. all; at the headstock now as opposed to at the bridge and needing a piezo bridge and controls for the tunings etc.

So it allows for 10 preset tunings covering most bases for most folks and 5 user definable slots too for any exotic tunings not covered and even if you want to create a "sweetened" standard tuning as soem have done.

For me the default standard tuning is at least as good as any tuner I have used manually and totally repeatable, but the option is there to refine it to your tastes or set the default 440Hz frequency to a different frequency up or down if needed for your setup band wise.

Weight wise I cannot feel any difference from the stock tuners and no neck dive ensued, if they are different weights it must be pretty subtle indeed.

They reckon 300 discrete tunings per battery charge and if it ever craps out due to forgetting to charge it up you just tune manually as per normal. Not too rough though due to the gears and a peg winder should be avoided. The Dark Fire kit pretty much lasted as advertised the amount of tunings wise, so hopefully this will be similar with newer battery tech.

One criticism I would agree with is that they shouldn't be forced onto anyone by Gibson and should be on some models only or available as an option on standards and other popular models.

Anyway enough from me and here are a couple of links for any one curious or wishing to be better informed.

MIght be tempted to put a set on my Epi EJ200CE after trying them out and I reckon for most possible users acoustic/electric acoustic guitars and similar would be the spiritual home for your alt tunings and such like.
