Just using the free player as a plugin to Sonar - don't see a need for the pay version (unless there's something I'm missing).

you won't need the full version of Kontakt for Session Strings..
however… there are some other non NI AU's that require the full version because they exploit the time based features in it..
    like the Sound Iron choirs..

so.. I got the choirs.. I was running them in Kontakt 4 [cos I already had Komplete 7] and they worked great..
but to get the full functionality I knew I needed to upgrade to Kontakt 5..
rather than just upgrade Kontakt, I waited for the next big 'offer'.. that meant I could upgrade to Komplete 9 [which contains Kontakt 5] for pretty much the same money as buying Kontakt 5 outside of the sale…

sometimes it pays to wait so you get more bang for ya bux…
    and Komplete 9 is great...

Yeah, that's what I did with Symphonic Choirs - it was something like 25% off (about 100 euro saving), and they had a further 80 euro discount until the end of the year. Or, Solo Violin being 79 euro, I was seeing it more like that thrown in free.

I won't be getting any more until I've spent plenty of time with what I have - and taken care of a serious need to increase disk space. (Thinking of a RAID 5 NAS box with 4 drives around 3TB each. 9TB usable space should see me okay for a while...)

haaa… I reckon 9TB may just about get you by… lmao
I've got 3TB in the Mac and another 4TB outside for time machine..

I've been in a situation over the last 6 months where I've been adding instruments for the movie trailer writing..
but I've been recording an album and so I've not had much of a chance to really get to grips with them yet..
but now the album is done I'm finding myself neck deep in manuals.. lmao
