It was too loud, plus at the time the afd did justice towards the sound that I was after (early GnR tone) , but just kinda grown out of that style, and more into metal

Hmm, shame it's only single channel or I'd seriously consider the trade. I think I need at least 2 channels for the hard rock covers that we do.

Well the AFD100 has two modes, the AFD mode for more early GnR sort of thing and #34 for UYI days, the #34 is quite bright and can be used for clean parts easily, depending obvious on how much gain u use aswell

To be fair the Trem-o-verb is technically a Dual Rectifier. It even says so on the front :P

Indeed. It's a two-channel Dual Rectifier with the addition of tremolo and reverb, and can definitely do the tones you're after, and more besides. Check out this video on Youtube if you don't believe me:
