One for the Zep heads- Physical Graffiti Reissue

xSkarloeyxSkarloey Frets: 2962
Out at the of Feb.

The Deluxe version has some varied stuff on the bonus disc by the looks of it. No Swan Song which disappoints me (then again there's a ton of out takes and demos on Youtube to trawl through) so looks like Pagey's gone for quality over quantity here.

I wonder if he's been able to do anything about the guitar sound on Sick Again? It always sounded like it was mic'ed up in an outside toilet to me.

  • I always find it very bass light whenever I put it on. It just doesn't have the oomph it should have. I wonder whether he'll address that?

Funnily enough that track that never made it Swan Song has a section where JPJ is playing really twangy bass as a counterpoint to JP's acoustic part.

I think there was a sneak preview of a Kashmir demo on that Barry Sheene doc from a few weeks back. Just guitar, bass and drums. A great record that's been part of my life for a long time.

Eh? The track list I've seen describes Kashmir on the companion disc as: Driving Through Kashmir (Kashmir Rough Orchestra Mix)

I haven't seen the track listing - just heard something on the telly. I'm not itk or anything!

Oh right. I'm just keen to hear whatever I can. Would be interesting to strip back Kashmir to just the core band.

    The new tracks are these:

Led Zeppelin, ‘Physical Graffiti’ Deluxe Edition Bonus Tracks:
‘Brandy & Coke (Trampled Under Foot – Initial Rough Mix)’
    ‘Sick Again (Early Version)’
‘In My Time of Dying (Initial Rough Mix)’
‘Houses of the Holy (Rough Mix With Overdubs)’
‘Everybody Makes It Through (In the Light Early Version/In Transit)’
‘Boogie With Stu (Sunset Sound Mix)’
‘Driving Through Kashmir (Kashmir Rough Orchestra Mix)’

This is Swan Song. Pagey redid it later with Paul Rogers as Midnight Moonlight in The Firm, which ain't bad, but I think this has to be one of the great what if's hanging over zeppelin's career.

    Excellent, pre-ordering now....

So just one album in this "round".... I wonder what he'll do with Presence and ITTOD?  And will they reissue Coda?

    Yes, I think Coda's scheduled.

Playing Devil's advocate, what I think he should do with ITTOD is what he should have done anyway, which is rethink the running order, jettison the godawful Hot Dog and the last track, and stick on Ozone Baby, Wearing and Tearing and Darlene.

I'm very interested in the upgraded versions of the original tracks. I'm in agreement with the Sick Again statement and also The Rover - stellar tune with a bad mix.. maybe there's a similar treatment to what they used on Dancing Days. Some killer stuff on PG.
