Recommend me an amp:

Here are my criteria:

50w and upwards. Could possibly entertain a 40-45w.

Combo.

Preferably 1x12, although a small head and 1x12 cab is also possible.

Vintagey sounding. Good for classic rock basically. I like Marshall based tones. Plexi type things are always good.

Needs to either have an fx loop or a pair of master volumes so I can get volume boosts for solos.

I'd like it to be a bit special/unique

Budget, for the right amp, isn't really too much of a concern.

I've been looking at Two Rock, Carr, Tone King etc.

I'd prefer the gain mostly to come from the amp although I do have a good selection of boosts and drives to get it over edge for fluid soloing etc.

Maybe a Friedman small box 50?

Dirty Shirley?

Soldano 44? (Albeit no loop :( )

Any Dr Z's worth considering?

I don't want a Marshall.

    I was also thinking:

    Bogner Atma
    Bogner Cube
And Bad Cat unleash to make up the volume difference? So I'll have an extra volume hike because of the amplification features of the Unleash??

    That's a shame because a JCM900 2501 (50W Master Volume 1x12") is the exact spec you want.

Or a Jubilee 1x12" if you want something a bit more unique.

Sounds very Cornford MK50 to me.

Or you could buy my Mesa Nomad 45. It's a 4x10 though.

If you're buying new and direct, Soldano will put a loop in for you. There's also the Lucky 13 without the shared EQ, but again...no loop.

Cornell plexi? He does a 45w version - head, combo, whatever you want...

  • Why not have something custom built? You know exactly what you want so you already have your spec.
