My spotify subscription is soon to expire & I just wanted to know what services you lot use/can recommend? I keep seeing Tidal mentioned online, but is that just due to the buyout by Jay-Z? anyone use it? In the meantime I will use the free Spotify (with adverts) & Grooveshark services. Cheers!

I've looked about, but Spotify always wins out.

It's now backed by Sony on all their products including Playstation 3 and 4 so that's another bonus.

Offline caching of tracks, 320kbps vorbis, not having to piss about with finding a decent version of things.

Spotify for me. Just bought a bit of hardware so I can stream Spotify all over the house .. cost me £40.

Remember, it's easier to criticise than create!

Signed up with Google Play Music for a change. Costs the same as spotify premium (£10 a month) & has a vast library/playlists etc.

Worth trying out if you fancy something different, & it has a 3 month free trial/cancel anytime offer on atm.

    What's the benefit of Spotify?
As mentioned, higher quality, offline caching, better searching, better suggestions and more.

The offline caching is a big one if you use your phone as a music player. I use it a lot to save on my data allowance while out and about.

The weekly discovery playlist that gets generated against your tastes is pretty spot on too, I check it every week.

Really annoys me that Spotify won't allow filtering of explicit lyrics. Ordinarily it wouldn't bother me but I'd prefer not to have my 6 and 8 year olds singing along to the unfiltered version of Cake by the Ocean.

Got a new bank card & didn't bother updating it on my spotify account so it automatically cancelled. Spotify I can still use unlimited, listening on my iPad/PC although I can't download songs on my phone.

GooglePlayMusic is on my Android phone & has no access to their library for free, so I was curious to see what it had on offer.

TBH it's the same kind of set-up as Spotify but with a different colour scheme (White & Orange V's Green & Black). I would say you only need to use one or the other, no need for both.

Tbh if Amazon Prime had a bigger/better library I would have used that exclusively and saved myself £10 a month, but I find it a bit limited for music.  Although it does has a fantastic 'XRay Lyrics" feature, where the lyrics scroll along with the music, like karaoke.

Mine definitely favours the mellower end of my listening!

Spotify for users, but it is terrible for artists.

Which one would you say is good for artists? I think that's the kind of thing that would swing it for a lot of people
