Yeah it depends a lot on the particular songs. Some songs it will work, others it will totally ruin, some songs it will sound better.

Looking forward to hearing how the gig goes Travisthedog (sorry, don't get all this @robwright stuff - too old!) and likewise want to hear more from Tom. Both sound like top projects and I'm thinking about an acoustic duo myself for organisational/financial reasons!
