Community Music - What do people know?

So following my redundancy a few weeks ago i'v decided to leap forward into music education and a sector known as 'Community Music'.

I was wondering if any of you lovely folk out there have had dealings with community music projects or considered yourselves community musicians and could offer some sage advice?

For those who don't know, community music is defined (loosley and difficultly, and entirely in my own opinon) as working within a community to not only increase their musicality and offer a chance to try something they otherwise might not have but also to bring people together, break barriers and get people collaborating and improving their lives! So you might have been involved without realising it.

I'm currently trying to find organisations in Kent and London to work with/volunteer with/train with and have found half a dozen or so thus far. So...what do you know?!
