OMG. Just made THIS Sticky Toffee Pudding. 

It is AMAZING. Needs a smidge of brandy with the dates and vanilla in the sauce and then it'll be The Only Thing I Ever Want To EatTM

This thread looked a bit lonely so I dropped in. I have to admit that looks too sweet for my tastes, I go for very low level sweetness in cakes, puddings etc. I'm sure it's lovely though. My mum used to make great puddings when I lived at home. I miss that stuff, Mrs A can't cook to save her life ....

Yay! 

It is/was really sweet. Not something you'd have more than a couple of times a year, but it's so good with custard. Cakey and gooey and datey and excellent. I think I may have surpassed myself

Missus is lactose intolerant, and trying gluten free, so we're cooking more from scratch now.

It's really not too hard to stick to, and is (mostly) tasting better than take-away and jars of sauce.

My Rick Stein's India book has arrived. It is at odds with my planned belly reduction programme but the pics look well tasty. Just ordered my herbs & spices starter kit too.

Been having an Okra try-out this weekend, largey because it's reay cheap here. MrsF did barbeque pork and cajun rice yesterday and I just cooked Gumbo tonight. Both were awesome. Okra is lovely

We have fish pie - roughly Rick Stein's recipe, but with prawns added and sweetcorn instead of boiled eggs.

I just got Mary McCartney's book which looks excellent.

tonight will be, probably  -  "berts special piri-piri chicken bulgar wheat"  or  I might have a go at  polenta/chili  lasagne again (no pasta involved)  saw it on some american program - "Guys backyard something or other" - he had more kit in an out-door kitchen than my whole house is worth

Actually, Vim's right...  it was a shit joke...  I was a bit pissed - again. (6.2% IPA).

Inspired by your cooking, I made Jambalaya last night.  I added some fresh chillies from the greenhouse, and being pissed, was a bit heavy-handed.  It was as hot as a vindaloo.  I'm not looking forward to it coming out later.  I've also bought some okra to have a bash at gumbo.

I haven't had jambalaya for ages (like, decades), what's your recipe? Quite fancy giving it a try.

I didn't use crab or bay leaves but everything else was pretty much spot on.

I'm not a great seafood fan, so I went with what I had in the kitchen and made this chicken & chorizo version... http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1167651/chicken-and-chorizo-jambalaya

I've never eaten jambalaya before, so I have nothing to compare it with.  I love chorizo though, but on this occasion I found that it added too much of a smokey flavour to the meal.  I did put a bit more in than prescribed though.  Overall, it was alright... it didn't blow me away on the taste front, but it might blow my bowels away later on this morning.
