It was the Fall though, people will assume he pulled it out of a skip.

Not an unreasonable assumption when your lead singer looks like he's lived in a skip for the last 40 years.

  • I've stuck it on guitarsexchange which quite frankly is an unfortunate web address.
Now it's back in my sticky paws and before it gets hung on my wall I will entertain serious offers. :-)

You'd probably stand a better chance of selling it through a shop like Chandlers or CGX. I suspect you're more likely to find someone prepared to part with that sort of eye-watering sum in that kind of environment.

Have you tried selling it on the Aluminium Axes FB page? Alex Whatshisnamealopolis from Foals is in the group, and may have that type of cash. Could also try the Electrical Audio forum. Steve Albini is on there, and he has a penchant for TBs.

    It's very nice, GLWTS

...even if the center join does look rather like a lady's private parts.
Regret ever reading this post... it just jumps out at me every time I look at this guitar now.

Sorry. But what's so good about these that they command a large price tag? Am I missing something? I'm been playing/buying guitars for years and not heard of these.

No need to apologise, but they are really well known and very very highly sought after. Im not sure how you have never heard of them in your many years experience.

Rarity has a lot to do with it. And they were innovative at the time, still are really. They're extremely well built and are pretty indestructible. They have a pretty unique sound too, the pups are powerful and strident without being too harsh.

A pal of mine has a TB500 which he got for a few hundred dollars in the early 90s. It's like new and worth a fortune now. I think the emergence of Electrical Guitar Company  and the new guitars baring the Travis Bean name have only pushed up the value of the originals. There been a 1000S sitting in a shop in Dublin for years.

They're HEAVY. Well, the 1000s are. But well balanced. The cold neck takes a bit of getting used to! Though most 500s have the aluminum covered with some sort of slick plastic or rubber.

Personally, if I had the money it's a 1000A I'd buy. Love the look of the carved top.

    Noise, randomness, ballistic uncertainty.
