Been working on this since October. It's been alot of work, getting this done alongside with our university schedule. I'm so pleased it's finally completed. We've just released track 1. Let me know what you guys think!

A bit John Meyer meets The Streets.  Nice enough but spoiled a little for me by the heavy double-tracked vocals - the second voice needs to be tighter and quieter.  Also I have no idea what the song is about other than a silhouette gone up in smoke (?).  The lack of a story in the lyrics combined with very little emotion in the singing means I wouldn't press the button - sorry.

Thanks for being cool about it.  So many people take constructive criticism as a personal insult these days i.e. "I'm don't think it's a great song" equals "You're an arsehole" .... which of course it doesn't.

OK.  I completely disagree with the comment about the 'double-tracked' vocals.  Having recorded more singers and vocal tracks than I care to remember, for me recording the same voice twice can work in one of two ways - tight thickening doubles or distinct second voices (which is where I think yours is and I'm hoping that's what you were intending).  Virtually everything in between can sound shit but I think you have chosen a sound and nailed it.  I love the track and I love the mix.  Really good work and I hope you guys are proud.

wow, thanks alot for the encouraging words. You're right, we did pick that sound. Somewhat inspired by Bon Iver, but didnt want to be over the top.

I'm liken that bud, coming from a Production point of view the music is spot on, good use of compression, I have to agree with the comments about the doubling up of the vocals, they sound OK but, would really elevate it if you lowered the volume of the 2ndary vox, possibly added a slight delay or the best option for me would be to have a female singer sing the secondary, that would really transform the vocals and bring it up to the standard of the music :-)

I like the track and I can see where you are trying to take it.
I think with such gentle vocals you need to be more precise with your diction/articulation as the words tend to get a bit muddy, I do like the use of the double tracking on the vox, but when it first comes in the effect is a bit overpowering, I think you need to be a touch more subtle with it. 

The drums seem a bit too far set back and when the bass comes in it is swamps the mix a touch.
Overall though it's a very nice song and I certainly enjoyed listening to it.
