I've never built one, but they look interesting and Hoffman is exceptionally good with amps...............................................................

I got an AMT electronics V1 (their Vox jobby) recently for this, and it's actually tons better than I was expecting!

Yeah second the Tech 21 fly rig 5.  It sounds fantastic.

Or if you got a Two Notes CAB pedal, you could run any overdrive pedal you want to the pa.  A bit pricey but very good.
