PM me if you want any tips. I think it's a great stepping stone into analog synthesis. A lot easier to use that other synths.
Abandoned the manual for a while and been jamming along with a smooth jazz backing track. A touch of portamento, slight softening of the attack, and some vibrato on the mod wheel, then play around with oscillators and the filter. Lovely, melodic lead sounds.
Haven't got near the patch bay stuff yet, but did try a guitar - level too low, so I'll need to find something to bring it up to line level.

Wow. What a cracking bit of kit. So glad I got this. Much better with an external keyboard - been using a 49-key one. Been playing with sounds somewhere between uilleann pipes (found the Ommadawn track that uses them and jammed along with that) and the Caravan lead organ sound.
Tip for two-speed vibrato at the flick of a switch...
Set the mod wheel switch to LFO. Set the LFO rate for the desired fast speed, and the sequencer rate for the slow speed. Flick the sync switch between seq and free to change speed. Set to free (fast) and put the mod wheel fully on, then adjust LFO depth to taste for max depth with full mod wheel. The slow speed works better with the mod wheel backed off a bit. Flick between fast and slow as desired, pushing the mod wheel forward on fast when you want the stronger effect.

There's some awfully good little boxes coming from Korg and Roland atm, though I try not to watch too many demo's or read articles on them as I know where my GAS funds will be diverted!
