I felt something similar about the new live album - some stunning playing but lacking that raw, elemental power that I associate with Crimson at their best.
Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.
@english_bob 21st C is our [DC Band] encore..
many moons ago, DC asked me to come up with an arrangement for 21st C so we have a version of our own..
I like our version.. it's energy all the way.. and contains noooooooo jazz
Pardon my ign'ance. Who's DC?

@english_bob DC = David Cross.. he used to be in King Crimson..
I'm the fella that makes guitar noises for him
it is worth pointing out that the guitar noises I make for him are generally too often and too loud.. but it keeps me smiling..
I totally get that...
beautifully arranged, performed, recorded, mixed and mastered..
but somehow a bit clinical, sterile, no fire in it's belly..
21st C needs angst and ugly.. the riff needs to boot you in the nads...
I remember the first time I heard the original, I was probably about 16 and it scared the crap out of me. It was a brutal, ugly, behemoth of a thing but I LOVED it. This version sounds like a Lalo Schifrin film score.
@Clarky. What's happening with the DC band? You getting out on the road again anytime soon?
