Suggestions for back to back pickup comparisons without soldering.

Please bear with me through my "thinking out loud" suggestions.

I want to compare humbucker A against humbucker B in a Les Paul.
The change is pretty quick but I want to listen and switch several times without soldering each time if possible.

The pickups are old skool braided wire.
Let's take the live wire first. If I just tuck wire into the lug and then fold it over, I have sound. But the wire soon moves. But.....If I tuck the wire into the lug and then attach a very small bulldog clip...do I now have an electrical connection which is identical to a soldered connection. If I don't there is little point me obsessing about very subtle tone judgements.

Now the braided connection. If I wrap the cable around another braided cable (or use a  second bulldog clip to attach the cable to another braided cable).....and I have silence.....no hum in any position.....do I now have an earth which is identical to soldering the braided wire to the surface of the pot?

    No, it's not identical.

But you'd never hear the difference in a billion, billion years and nor would anyone else on the face of the earth other than Eric Johnson.
