David Bowie's Glass Spider Tour

I'm a wee bit of a Bowie obsessive but even saying that late 80s Bowie live is a period I don't find myself listening to much. This morning however my eldest is off sick so tucked up in the other room watching Glass Spider on Sky Arts whilst I get on with some work. Framptom and Alomar were an awesome pairing and shamefully they aren't ones I often mention when recalling some of them superb musos Bowie has worked with.

That is my favourite Bowie period- great show.
Recorded in Sydney IIRC- I had it on video when it was released.
Frampton and Alomar are completely on it in that show.

I saw it on Sky Arts and recorded it- going to watch it later.

Judging by the ethusiasm of the crowd it certainly wasn't recorded in London. Frampton is playing like a cross between Eddie Van Halen and Gilmour. Just incredible. As much as I love some of his other line ups it's pretty hard to find a solid argument for there being a better pairing.

As you're aware I know Gabrels very well.

I asked him about Erdal Kizilcay who played on this and the S and V tour.

Reeves said that Erdal is the most gifted muso he's ever met. At 9, he went to the Vienna Auditorium on a schlarship. At 12 he had a degree, 14 a docterate and at 18, he became a professor.

Seemingly he is virtuoso on every single thing you can throw at him- ine of the best drummers around too!

    Amazing talent.

I remember watching it at Maine Road, Man City's old ground. Yeah, I agree, it was a very professional show and a very good band.

I went to see DB on that tour,  I had only been playing a few years and remember being blow away by Peter Frampton,  I hadn't heard his previous work and just thought he was a great guitarist - definitely a great lineup.

It's a well known fact that it never rains on Bowie

Actually, it did rain a little but Bowie looked heavenward and it stopped and the sun came out. It did. Honestly. I wasn't even stoned.
