I got a free copy of PowerDVD 10 with the drive, but it seems to crash every other time I use it, and it's clunky and shoddy so wondered what y'all use and is it any good?

If it's just for playing BR's, as above VLC media player
Not the prettiest of interfaces (obviously written by coders :) ) but it is one of the best playback applications for video.
If it's recording look for Nero.
Shot through the heart, and you’re to blame, you give love a bad name. Not to mention archery tuition.

  • Makemkv will also rip your blurays to Mkv format (still massive) then use handbrake to convert to mp4 to reduce file size

Huh, I'd not thought of VLC. Last I knew it didn't support Blu Ray and for some reason it didn't occur to me that things might have changed.
