I've seen a few posts on here moaning about the TV sound at Glasto. Yeah well I see that and raise you Download on Sky Arts. Fucking awful.

The telly sound for live gigs has been crap for years. I was watching something the other day and there was a clip of Free at the Isle of Wight. It's just ludicrous how people seem unable to get the sort of broadcast live sound that was possible decades ago.

Agreed, so poor. Why though? Surely nowadays good sound is possible on both live and televised fronts.

Didn't think it was that bad on the two programmes that I saw?

    Anything specific?

No probs - likewise, and thanks.

I'd agree that Hellyeah sounded crap - but I think that's more to do with Hellyeah than the broadcast.

Thought Slipknot sounded good, same for Clutch (who, from the footage I saw, were the band of the weekend).
Lamb Of God were fine apart from Randy's vocal's which were crap.

Max Cavalera might as well give up - and I've always been a fan of most of his output.

Poor TV sound quality is not surprising at Glasto given the quantity of acts over the number of stages and the lack of sound checks.

The TV companies simply take split feeds from the PA mics / feeds.

There's also a lack of experience now within the BBC for covering live music events, much of it is already outsourced.

Personally I didn't find what I watched to to that bad. Maybe I'be just got lower expectations nowadys.
