Interference on track - Help please!

My in law is recording a radio type piece for a course she is doing, and she has asked me to help out with the editing. The whole of the main take has got a weird interference sound running through it. This is a few second clip -

Would anyone be kind enough to suggest where I should start with EQ'ing this out? I'm very much an amateur when it comes to sound recording! I'm using Reaper, and have got a ReaEQ Cockos EQ loaded.

That sounds like digital crosstalk to me. I get it when I have two machines with audio outputs connected to the same amp.

Anyway, if you're using Reaper then ReaFir is your friend:

That is very low dude....I had to whack up the vol to even hear it.

Cant you just delete the silence in between all the audio?

Studio One has a facility to do just that, I'm sure Reaper has something similar?

Cheers, I've fiddled around with that and its improved lots. Had to apply it twice with 2 different filters so far. Nice tool

Yes I've not tried to increase the volume at all yet on this so it is rather quiet.

I'll certainly drop out some of the silent spaces in the recording to tidy it up a little, but this weird sound is running all the way through it so I'm hoping an eq frequency cut will sort it

OK guys.....I'm wondering whether any of you much more talented than I audio mixer folks would mind spending 10 mins on this track pretty please? I've boosted the levels and used several instances of ReaFir as suggested above to try to clean up the underlying noise, and this is what I have got -

As you can hear it still isn't good. I think that some of the noise cuts have made the vocal lines (especially the quieter ones) sound strange. I'm just a real amateur in the world of audio mixing and I think this is above me! The noise is also still coming through in places towards the end of the track. It is cut into sections slightly as there are other overdubs etc going in, which were recorded elsewhere and don't have this noise issue.

Here is the raw track -

If anyone would be kind enough to have a quick go at this, I would be eternally grateful, and will hunt you down to buy you a beer.

    Many thanks
